Last week on Thursday, Claudia was spending the day with our cousin, Olivia. Cooper wanted to invite a friend over so we got Finley to come play. The boys had so much fun together. We went to the library and Burger King. They tore Cooper's room to shreds, as only little boys can do! :-) About 45 min before Finley's mom was set to come and pick him up, they went to our playroom in the basement to play. I went down with them to sort through some winter clothes. They were having a ball playing with Cooper's old Little Tikes basketball goal, taking turns shooting and dunking the ball. On the last turn Cooper would take, he took what turned out to be a very hard fall on the concrete floor. He didn't get up immediately and when he did, he was cradling his arm and crying. The next thing you know...

We are on the road to Auburn to see Wynn Lyle for a cool orange and blue cast. Cooper was scared but he was so brave. He was in a lot of pain but he stayed pretty calm. He was impressed that his doctor used to be a kicker for Auburn. He was really impressed in the cast room when there was a big picture of his doc kicking in an actual game.
Somehow he fell just right to crack his bone just above the elbow. Thankfully, it is not a complete break so the healing should be a little faster. This cast had to be split to allow for swelling and we head back tomorrow for another cast. The sweet girl who did his cast told him she'd make him a really cool Auburn cast and it would be waterproof! Thank goodness because we have all missed the pool! I have tried to just keep us all out of it because I hate to swim with him not able to go out with us.

He has adjusted pretty well and really hasn't complained much. He is anxious for his waterproof cast and I know he will be so happy to get it off for good. He has to have xrays done in 3 weeks and Dr. Lyle thinks he will be able to move to a brace then. I am hoping he is completely finished by August 11th when he starts Kindergarten! But we will deal with whatever is going on at that time because we are just so thankful it was just a crack.
