Field Day

Around here, it's time for...

FIELD DAY

Kindergarten and 1st grade had Field Day on Wednesday. Claudia was very excited because last year it rained on her very first Field Day and they had to have it in the gym...that really wasn't that bad to me because there is no dust in the gym and there is air conditioning! :-) However, I totally understand why the kids LOVE to have it outside on the field...I mean, it is called FIELD day after all! Here are some 1st graders all hyped up and ready to go!
We went out right at noon and it was very HOT! Claudia was a cutie pie with her ribbons on her shirt!

Here is Hayden NOT wanting me to take his picture...and thinking he was so funny! Well, he does crack me up and I do adore him...and he probably thinks all I do is stick a camera in his face...and he'd be right so I can be forgiving!

Come on already, let's get it started!

Claudia ran in the 6-man(girl) 30-yard relay. She was the last leg. She can really stretch those long legs out there! Here is Grace passing the baton to Claudia.

Run, Claudia, run!

She has a good lead, she might make it!

Closing in on the big finish...

SHE MADE IT!

She is down and Mrs. Bailey throws her hands up declaring her class the WINNERS!

Mrs. Bailey's FIRST PLACE relay team!

Time for the water balloon over and under relay. 10 kids line up and the first one starts by handing the balloon over then under, etc...and when you've gone through the entire line rotating, you have a winner. In this picture, Claudia is telling Josh to "focus on our line" , "don't look at the other lines"...oh my little teacher...

This is not as easy as it sounds!

Hayden passes over to Claudia...

Now it is their turn in the front...

But sadly, they didn't place in this event! So we were on to the sack races. Here is Hayden jumping with all his might!

And Claudia tries really hard to close the gap...

but neither the boys or the girls placed this time.

And finally, the even they've all been waiting for...

the much anticipated...

the HIGHLY competitive...

TUG - OF - WAR!!!!
Here's Mrs. Bailey's class giving it their all in their first match.

Resting in the shade after winning the first round!

After winning the 2nd round, it was time for the championship!
Mrs. Bailey trying to virtually pull the rope!
Hayden is working hard for a win!

And the winner is...
Mrs. Bailey's Class!
Look at their faces, I love how excited they were!

Notice Claudia and Grace in the back doing their Miley/Lilly "BAM" handshake. I had never seen them do this before...it was so cute!

Tug-of-War Champs

Mrs. Bailey's class took 2nd place overall for field day.
The kids were so happy. It was a lot of fun to share this with them.
